I am pretty sure if a survey were conducted among the entire population, the positive response would get to around 100% (not counting extraterrestrials). This is in case people would take the time to answer the question and not hang up upon hearing it.
The thing is, I like to breathe too. But I would prefer to breathe air which is, you know, clean. Without all those nasty CO2 emissions clogging up those lungs of ours. So why can’t we breathe clean air? Because the air is polluted, meaning it is full of foreign substances which should not belong there and can cause us harm. Now, motor vehicles are not the root of all evil and they are not the sole reason the air we breathe has become harmful. But it is a major factor. According to the EPA, 75% of air pollution is caused by motor vehicles in the US.
Why Do Motor Vehicles Pollute?
Cars burn fuel and, like any matter on earth, it does not disappear. It simply transforms into energy. Or take a bike to the store rather than driving. However, trucks are still needed to deliver goods. Tractors are still needed for farming. Taxis are still a popular mode of public transportation. Therefore, this solution is not for everyone.
Ok! So, what can we do?
